Blogger Christine Mosler’s trip to Mozambique with Save the Children opened her eyes to the grave situation facing millions of people around the world who have no access to healthcare.
Determined to make a difference, Christine and Save the Children's Liz Scarff are currently at the UN General Assembly in New York to try to persuade governments to provide healthcare to help save lives in East Africa and they have been asking fellow bloggers to help.
On Saturday, Save the Children held a bloggers’ conference to reach out to the thousands of bloggers and encourage them to send people to sign the No Child Born To Die petition which will be sent to David Cameron.
To inspire other bloggers to share Save the Children’s message and highlight good causes through their blogs, Christine joined BritMums for a Twitter party this lunchtime.
The ripples are already spreading throughout the blogosphere. Muddling Along Mummy’s post ‘One good deed a day – add your voice’ has been highlighted on the front page of the Mumsnet Bloggers Network and Christine’s blog ‘Power to the People’ was highlighted on the Most Recent Posts.
What can you do today?
First off, you can sign the petition - Save the Children are hoping for 60,000 signatures by the end of today. It takes seconds, and all it requires is a name and email.
Michelle who blogs at Mummy From the Heart and Gemma at helloitsgemma.wordpress.com have set a challenge for 100 posts of 100 words to be written by the end of today.
If 100 bloggers each write a post about this and encourage more signatures that could make a massive dent in the 20,000 signature shortfall that we sit with right now!
Write your 100 words about a great health professional you have encountered in your life. Add a link to the petition and either link or add in some information from Save the Children about the #Healthworkers campaign.
Link to a number of other bloggers/ vloggers and ask them to do the same. Tweet about this, Facebook mention it, remark on Google plus, talk to your mum on the phone, whatever you can do to spread this to just a few more people, please do it.
You have already surpassed the 100 posts mark, so jump in too and add your voice now!
