You know how we like to lead the conversation at BritMums? Well, we also hope to inspire new trends in blogging and help you find your feet. We have some very exciting things coming in the near future on the video blogging front and our current group of BritMums video bloggers will be working hard every week to bring you a new topic for discussion.
This week on the BritMums network our video topic is "Healthy Packed Lunches for School" so we thought we would challenge the BritMums massive to dust off their video cameras/smartphones and webcams to share with us. This week's BritMums Video Blog Challenge is:
What is your child(ren)'s/family's favourite food/recipe/meal?
You can tackle this any number of ways. You can film you talking to the camera about your child's favourite food or meal; you can create your own cooking show (a la Masterchef??) where you demonstrate the cooking method and/or recipe; you can take us shopping for your families favourite food/meal ingredients. Be creative and courageous...video is not as scary as it seems!
You can upload your video to the BritMums network (go to My Page, click on Video tab, click on Add a video and then follow the on-screen instructions to upload your video) or to YouTube (or another video hosting platform like Vimeo). Then simply create a post on your blog, embed your video, publish it and then come back to link up your post below. We recommend that you keep your videos under 1mb in size and preferably around 5 minutes max to keep your viewers interested.
Keep in mind that you do not have to use whizz-bang technology to create your video and edit it. You can download Windows Movie Maker or use iMovie for Mac users which are both very user-friendly and easy to work with. Just VLOG it! You never know how much fun you might have! If you need some tips on video blogging, refer to our resident video expert, Ruth, in her Introduction to Video Blogging.
We'll be back every week to give you a new video blogging challenge. The more you do it, the easier it will get! Please join our Vlogging group on the BritMums network and be sure to Tweet the @BritMums account when you publish your video blog posts. We look forward to seeing some new faces thanks to the weekly Video Blogging Challenge. Are you ready for your close-up?
