1. What is your Blog Name/Url? (Twitter ID & Facebook Fan Page URL)
@Kahanka
All Baby Advice is a blog written by a stay at home mum to almost 4 year old Isabelle. I blog about bringing up my daughter bilingually and living in England without my family who live in the Czech Republic. I also share my baby and toddler tips, write product reviews and run competitions.
My life has completely changed after having our now almost 4 year old Isabelle. Being a good mummy is my priority now, but I still have a few passions in my life except being a mummy. One of my biggest passions is travelling. I have travelled the world, I also lived in Australia for 5 years, and to be honest, I cannot imagine life without travelling. Isabelle was just 3 months old when she flew for the first time and still loves flying and travelling with us. I remember many of my friends and family calling me crazy to be flying with such a tiny baby, but I just could not see why not to. Luckily my husband is a very down to earth man and has always been very supportive.
Another of my passions is running my All Baby Advice website and blog both of which I have set up all on my own, learning the Joomla software and affiliate marketing strategies, SEO, while dealing with becoming a mum for the first time. Thanks to blogging I have also been introduced to the world of Twitter (@Kahanka), and have made some virtual friends and been in contact with many other mummy bloggers. I love blogging very much and would love to learn more about it from the top bloggers in the UK. I was very lucky to get sponsored by the Seven Seas Femibion to go to the CyberMummy blogging conference in July 2010, and this year I have been sponsored by SnoozeShade. I have been blogging for just over 2 years, but cannot imagine my life without it.
2. What is your name/alias?
Mirka alias Kahanka
3. How did you come up with your Blog Name?
I set up my website All baby Advice first, as I was trying to put all my personal advice on babies and baby products together and have some extra income as a stay at home mum through affiliate marketing. After that I started my blog, and kept the same name to promote my website.
4. When did you start blogging?
10/03/2009
5. Why did you start blogging?
After setting up my website www.allbabyadvice.com and being active on twitter I started my blog mainly to promote my website. But after coming across some very interesting blogs I decided it would be great to blog about our daily life with Isabelle so that one day she could read it as a diary, and that’s what I have been blogging about mostly. I only wish I started it much earlier.
6. Has blogging met your expectations so far?
Absolutely yes. I have been nicely surprised about the power of blogging, have met a few very interesting people and made some great friends.
7. What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge was probably at the beginning, when I wasn’t getting any comments on my blog. But when I look at it back, it was because I was just trying to promote my website. Once I started being more personal, people started to comment. Even though I am writing it mostly for my daughter, it is always nice to get other people to comment and leave their views on the post.
8. Share with us your blogging HIGHLIGHT and LOWLIGHT.
I would say that one of the highlights was, when I complained about something on my blog http://wwwallbabyadvice.blogspot.com/2011/01/do-i-expect-too-much-i-dont-think-so.html and as the result of this the company have refunded my money. I was very pleased with that, and also with how many other mummy bloggers supported me in the comments. Lowlight, let me think, I think it was when I realised there was a lot of competition going on among mummy bloggers, but that’s life I suppose.
9. What do you hope to achieve through your blogging?
As I have said, my blog All Baby Advice is mostly for my daughter. I also have to say my love for blogging and social media is growing so much, that I would love to be able to find a job in social media, so that I could work from home. I am also planning a Czech version of my blog, as have had many people asking for it, and I do not want to use one of these applications that translate websites or blogs, as to be honest they don’t do very good job, and most of the time the translation is just a joke.
10. What has been your favourite post and why?
http://wwwallbabyadvice.blogspot.com/2011/02/fitness-tuesday-week-29-my-knee-still.html Probably this post, as I put on paper all my sadness and thoughts and I felt much better after the support and response I got on my blog and twitter.
Thank you Mirka. We so appreciate learning more about the bloggers behind the blogs we love!
