More excitement in the build-up to CyberMummy which is only eight days away! Today we're braving the frozen tundra of Russia to share some lovely thoughts from the profound Potty Mummy. She'll be fresh off the plane from Moscow and assures us that she'll be sporting a fur-lined bra and sheerling-lined wellies when she touches down in Blighty to attend CyberMummy11.
One minute I was sitting in Moscow last December, where a glance out of the window confirmed that yes, it was still snowing, the temperature was still below civilised, and that my reflection did still have hat-hair, and the next? I find myself wondering where on earth I left my sunglasses, why I didn’t think to put sunblock on for the 10 minute walk to school (I do not rock the red-nose look), and which of my many forwarding UK forwarding addresses I had the CyberMummy ticket sent to...
Non-bloggers might ask why I’m making the trip from Moscow to London for this event. But non-bloggers don’t understand the attraction of meeting fellow bloggers face to face, because most of them interact with their friends face to face all the time. We (by which I mean bloggers generally and perhaps parent bloggers more than most) don’t necessarily limit our friendships to ones we can have on that basis. Blogging about or around one of the most emotive things that can happen to a human being – being a parent – can lead to real and lasting friendships between people who have never met, and possibly never will. Never will, that is, unless they attend events like CyberMummy.
So that is why I’m packing up my family perhaps a little earlier than I would otherwise have done this summer, and swapping Moscow for London for a short while. Well – that, and the fact that I’ve run out various essentials for civilised living and you can’t get decent cheddar, spicy tomato pickle, or Green & Black’s chocolate for love or money out here...
Thank you Potty! Safe travels and we'll see you in EIGHT DAYS!!!
