In the spotlight for the first of our "Why Do You Blog" series is Pippa from A Mother's Ramblings...
What is your Blog Name/Url? (Twitter ID & Facebook Fan Page URL) My Blog is called A Mother's Ramblings. You can also find me on Twitter and my Facebook Fan page and on YouTube.
What is your name/alias? I am known mostly as Mummy on the blog, but I go by PippaD which is my real name!
How did you come up with your Blog Name? A Mother's Ramblings wasn't my first blog, and I wanted a place for my ramblings on parenting as it didn't fit in with the other blog areas as well as the other areas would fit in with blogging about parenting! I didn't know about a lot of parenting blogs back then so I thought I should combine my love of walking/rambling and my love of parenting and my habit of never shutting up...
When did you start blogging? The very first post on A Mother's Ramblings was in 2007, but my very first blog was first posted in 1998! Thankfully it has long been deleted as 1998 Pippa was very crazy.
Why did you start blogging? I started blogging at A Mother's Ramblings because Top Ender said and did things that made me laugh and I wanted to remember them. There were feelings and memories that I just didn't want to lose/forget and so I thought that writing them down would help. Also I really thought that some of the things that Top Ender said deserved to be shared!
Has blogging met your expectations so far? I didn't have any expectations about blogging when I started, it was just a way for me to remember things. I certainly didn't expect to be nominated for being funny at the Gurgles, or to win an award for blogging about Family Fun at The MAD's and I didn't know that I would find some great friends either.
What has been your biggest challenge? I don't know! I have struggled a few times with things to write about, but that's only when I don't remember what my blog is supposed to be about... my family!
Share with us your blogging HIGHLIGHT and LOWLIGHT. My blogging highlight could be one of many things! I think that it was either at The MAD's or at CyberMummy. I loved when random people would come up to me and say "I read your blog!" or "Pippa, I really wanted to meet you!" I just hope they weren't disappointed when they did meet me! I don't think that I have had a lowlight.. hmm not on my blog at least. Oh I know, it was when something I wrote made one person upset. I was quite upset that I had upset this person. I didn't take the post down, but I did add a warning at the start of the post that some people might not want to read the post.
What do you hope to achieve through your blogging? I don't look at blogging as something that will gain me anything, I just hope that in the years to come when Top Ender and Baby Boy look back at their childhood they will see that it wasn't just chores and cleaning but that we went on a lot of adventures!
What has been your favourite post and why? My favourite post? ooh that's a tough one! I think that it would have to be my How to Be an Organised Mummy from this year, if only because people thought it was real!
