Here's part 2 of Emily Carlisle's post about how blogging can change your life. Also know as More than Just a Mother, Emily entered the blogging world with a bang in 2008 and has picked up all kinds of tips since. Over to Emily:
If you’re starting to think what it might do for you, here are some of my top blogging tips;
1. Start. That’s my first tip. Every single one of you could go home tonight, log onto a free blogging site such as Blogger or Wordpress, and write your first blog post.
2. Keep going. Posting regularly – two or three times a week – increases your visibility in terms of Google searches, and keeps your readers coming back for more.
3. Use other social media avenues to support your blogging strategy. Run a Facebook fan page, Tweet links to your posts, link your YouTube channel or Flickr account to your blog.
4. Be generous. Visit other people’s blogs as much as you can and leave comments if you want people to comment on your posts. Tweet links to other people’s blog posts as well as your own.
5. Think about your security. Consider whether you want to post anonymously. If you use your real identity, consider what personal information you want to share with the world.
6. Never blog when you’re drunk. Whatever you post on the internet is there forever, so your blog is not the best place to rant about the mother-in-law, your boss, or the crush you have on the man in the deli.
So there you have it. If you’ve not read my blog before, please do come and visit me at morethanjustamother.com.
