Move over Gisele Bundchen, there’s a new cover girl in town. Massive congratulations to Catherine from Baby Genie who this month can be spotted staring out from the cover of the Tesco magazine. The magazine has a circulation of two million and a readership of around six and a half million, so it’s fair to say this is one BMB member who’s getting some great exposure.
Her starring role is down to fellow blogger Liz from Living with Kids, who in her work as a freelance journalist was looking for mums to include. In the same issue Amy Lane and Mary Poppinsare also featured with tips on making £100 in your spare time. So the two BMB members - and their fabulous cakes and crafts – are now household names.
But Catherine isn’t the first BMB member to find herself in the limelight through Liz, or through some of the other journalists who also blog. Sometimes appearances in national, regional or local newspapers, magazines or even on TV or radio airwaves can be as a direct result of a request posted on the BMB media requests group.
From popular women’s magazines, to broadsheet newspapers and local weeklies, BMB members interested in publicity are responding to appeals from reporters, producers or editors through the group I set up on BMB. There are now more than 300 members, making it one of the most popular groups in the network. I’ve also been able to help find interviewees for features on education or travel or ‘human interest’ stories. If you’d like to know more about gaining media exposure then Liz’s post on how to grab column inches may be useful to you. Who knows, you could become a cover star too.
