Last night Jen and I went to the launch of the HuffPost UK, the popular news site whose model is to have "influential and knowledgeable minds" weigh in on all kinds of topical issues. The amazing thing is that people like Sarah Brown, Alastair Campbell and Ricky Gervais, all contribute. For free.
We're very excited that they have asked BritMums to contribute as well (Yes, we scratched our head at that one too).
So the trailer for the upcoming film of Allison Pearson's book I Don't Know How She Does It is out - the movie features Sarah Jessica Parker as a suspiciously Carrie Bradshaw-esque Kate Reddy.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to it. Think it will live up to the touchstone quality of the book? Or will it be a disappointing retread?
Bring out the bunting and ice the fairy cakes; tis the season for school fetes. Fetes are important not only for the fun they provide but for the essential funds they raise for the schools themselves. But what makes a good fete? What's the best way to organise a tombola? How do you get people involved?
The first clue that this wasn’t your average book launch came as we arrived. “Don’t forget to use our hashtag – #SBBlackDoor”, two press people told us as we entered the Secret Garden at Shoreditch House last Wednesday.
The second came from the author herself, who kept her speech short, announcing, “"I won't speak long because this is a tweetup and we must get back to tweeting."
Representing mum bloggers everywhere at the launch of Sarah Brown’s new book Behind the Black Door last week was founder of BMB Susanna Scott (@amodernmother), myself (@JHowze), our CyberMummy partner Sian To (@mummytips) and Livingwithkids’s Liz Jarvis (@livingwithkids).
Celeb Twitter dad Dan Stevens (@thatdanstevens) just kicked off filming the new series of period drama Downton Abbey, which, BTW apparently has a HUGE mum following.
He is just finding his feet on twitter and is endeavoring to tweet more about daddyhood. His daughter Willow just turned 17-months-old and he says he's often on nappy duty.
Dan would love some new mummy followers (he'll follow you back). So go on make his day and tweet hello @thatdanstevens and while you are at it "like" his facebook page.
