BMB Half-Term Adventure Carnival

For most of us, life has returned to normal. Stressful mornings, rushing to get out the door for the school run, carrying on with our usual daily routine, reversing the morning school run and cracking on with homework, dinner, bath and bedtime. I think we may all be a bit wistful for the Half-Term break that has just ended.

Some of our BMB members handled the terror of half-term with remarkable aplomb. We'd like to highlight some of our best and brightest in the first BMB Half-Term Adventure Carnival. Hopefully we can all learn from their genius and prepare ourselves for the month of April and May when very little time will be spent in school thanks to the Easter holidays, Royal Wedding and May Bank Holidays. I sense the fear already!

15 of the best parent blogging carnivals and memes

Ever been confused about all the carnivals and memes out there? Scribbling Mum (pictured) is on hand with this primer about them.

When I first started blogging over a year ago I wondered what the heck people were talking about, inviting me to join in with their 'carnival'. Did I have to dress up? Would there be cake?

I can remember getting my first 'meme', being thrilled, but spending way too long thinking about how you'd pronounce it if you had to say it out loud. Was it mee-mee or memé? When I asked this of the seasoned blogger who'd tagged me she was like 'Em. Not sure. Weirdo.' and ran away.

And who was this McLinky they spoke of? As a Scot, should I be offended at this apparent stereotyping?

Share your half-term adventures!

It's is a time of gleeful abandon for the children and white-knuckle fear for parents. What could I be talking about? Why HALF-TERM of course! Whether you enjoyed yours last week or are knee-deep in it this week, we're all in the same boat. What WILL we do to fill all of the time? What if it rains? What if it doesn't rain? What if it's sunny? So many possibilities, such low tolerance! But as so many bloggers demonstrate, necessity is the mother of inventive half-term activities.

A BMB Christmas Carol Carnival

 
    Tis the season to be jolly! Join us for the BMB "A Christmas Carol" Carnival. Share with us your favourite memory or wish for Christmas past, present or future. For those of you who will be joining us for the BMB Christmas party on 8th December, we will select a few posts to be read at the event, ala CyberMummy-style.

What do you need to do? Well, it's simple! Write a post about Christmas past, Christmas present or Christmas future. Publish it on your blog and then share the link below. If you are going to the Christmas party and would like to submit your post to be read (by you) at the event, please email cafebebeuk@hotmail.com before Sunday 5th December.

Want to find new blogs and tell the world about your latest posts? Blogging carnivals are great way to do it.

If you are a newbie, it's a way to get new readers and if your an old hand, it introduces you to new blogs. It's also loads of fun and really give you the pulse of the parenting blogosphere.

This is how it works: every two weeks a different parent blogger “hosts” the carnival. Bloggers submit posts from the past month.

The rules are one post per blogger and it must be something written in the past four weeks. No commerical or sponsored posts.

The host blogger writes the carnival and the submitters help publicise with a post, link, tweet, etc. It's up to the host to decide if they want to have a theme.

Trust me, this is a great way to create traffic and link love for all sites involved.
